BEIJING police again detained activists Yang Jing and Jin Chen to prevent them from going to court and speaking to foreign journalists on Wei's trial, the activists said.
Mr Yang, a fellow activist during the 1978-79 Democracy Wall movement who was released from an eight-year prison sentence in 1989, said he was picked on Wednesday and held for 12 hours. 'They told me I couldn't leave until the appeal was over, and warned me against any involvement in reactionary activities,' said Mr Yang, who was briefly detained last month after talking to foreign journalists outside Wei's trial. Mr Jin, sentenced to two years in 1991 for co-founding a pro-democracy publication, was detained for 24 hours.
