TRAIN services will run through the night to cater for the hordes of people bringing in the New Year. The MTR and the KCR said all-night services would be provided and additional trains would be laid on if necessary. Other transport arrangements are: The Light Rail Transit will operate a normal weekly schedule, but increase the frequency of trains. Trams will run until 2 am on routes between Shau Kei Wan and Kennedy Town, except the Happy Valley loop. Peak Tram services will also be extended to 2 am. Hong Kong Ferry said services would be normal. Extra ferries, however, will be laid on to Discovery Bay between 1 am and 4 am. The Star Ferry between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui will be running until 3 am. Special traffic arrangements will be in place from 8 pm around Victoria Park for the Family Fun Fair Carnival. Traffic control systems will be implemented in two phases, depending on congestion. The first phase includes the closure of Sugar Street, East Point Road, Great George Street, Kai Chiu Road between Yun Ping Road and Jardine's Crescent. Around Times Square where a countdown will be held, Russell Street between Percival Street and Canal Road East will be closed from 8.30 pm. Lan Kwai Fong will be subject to a phased plan. It begins with the closure of the section of D'Aguilar Street between Wyndham Street and Wellington Street, including Wo On Lane. After 8.30 pm, road closures in Tsim Sha Tsui will cover Peking Road between Canton Road and Kowloon Park Drive, Ashley Road between Peking Road and Middle Road, Middle Road from Kowloon Park Drive to Salisbury Road, Hankow Road between Peking Road and Salisbury Road.
