A PRIVATE member's bill which allows Legco to control labour importation may be withdrawn on its second reading if it does not win enough support. Its sponsor, Democratic Party legislator Michael Ho Mun-ka, said: 'If the chance is slim, I would rather put the second and third readings on hold and wait until a more favourable moment comes.' The bill will be tabled for its first reading on Wednesday and a bill committee will be formed. Unionists have dropped a private member's bill to scrap labour importation since they agreed a compromise deal with the Government to cut the quota for imported workers to 2,000.
