FOR everyone who thinks that karaoke is strictly for the birds . . . well, now it is. Trish Hanley of Party Planners informs us that you can now buy a product called WingSong, made by a firm called County Line Ltd, which is basically a vocal system for our feathered friends.
The idea is this. You buy a WingSong set, which is a birdhouse with a built-in microphone specially tuned to the singing voices of birds. The birds arrive, start warbling, and the vocal performances are automatically sent, live by radio to a portable speaker in your flat.
The promotional bumpf says that a separate 'Sounds of Nature Monitor' is available for people who have their own bird houses or aviaries, and would like to listen to the noises made therein from a distance. We imagine this might be useful for other purposes, such as catching the rare Red-Faced Whooping Husband in the act of nesting with the Tawny Long-Legged Amah.
