I'll splash GBP3m, says Keegan
KEVIN Keegan has said it was ''inevitable'' he would be spending more than GBP3 million on a striker even though Newcastle were nearly GBP6 million in debt.
The English First Division side's manager confirmed for the first time that he had bid GBP3.3 million for Premier League side Queen's Park Rangers' striker Les Ferdinand.
Keegan said: ''If you are asking whether GBP3.5 million is there, I would say yes it would be made available.
''I am not talking about a kid of 19 or 20, but if you are on about the best like Ferdinand and Alan Shearer of Blackburn Rovers it will be there.
''I am not saying it is going to happen this week or in two weeks, but it will happen. It is inevitable.''
