WE read with serious concern the letter by Mr Ho Koh Fu headlined 'Long wait', published in the South China Morning Post, of January 8.
Although we agree with Mr Ho that we are reviewing our policy of publishing our monthly Cable Guide, we beg to differ with Mr Ho on his allegation that we have wilfully disregarded the interests of our non-Chinese cable TV viewers. Over the past few months, we have successfully liaised with various English-language publications and are grateful for their co-operation in including more Cable TV programme information.
As a result, most of our programme information to the English-only speakers is in the major English dailies and a prominent English weekly magazine.
We have, on another front, gradually increased the English content of our Cable Guide, so as not to leave our English viewers unattended to.
The resultant Cable Guide includes highlights of our English programming. (It would be foolhardy to have English descriptions of Cantonese programmes).
In passing, it may be mentioned - and Mr Ho may be interested to know - that we are the only TV station in Hong Kong that produces a bilingual programme guide.
