WANTED: Significant other(s) to open heart and home to an energetic, outgoing young lady with a view to a permanent, meaningful relationship.
The 'lady' is a cuddly 81/2-month-old pup of mixed parentage for which the RSPCA is hoping to find a loving home.
Hers is a sad story: last July, after a tip-off, RSPCA inspectors visited a Kwai Chung flat and found the animal with a hole burned in its ear; a cigarette butt was stuck through the hole.
When the owner pleaded not guilty to a charge of cruelty, the case was adjourned for five months during which time the dog was held as evidence and cared for by RSPCA workers.
On January 5, the owner was acquitted; at the same time he told the court he did not want the pup.
The society has said it will not appeal the ruling although it is 'bitterly disappointed' at the outcome.
