UHLSPORT-RANGERS players were barracked throughout last night's 1-0 First Division victory over Eastern at Mongkok Stadium.
The match came three days after Rangers were involved in the brawl with South China with the violence spreading to the Hong Kong Stadium terraces.
After seeing Kwok Man-tik's first-half header settle the issue last night, Rangers manager Tony Siew voiced his disgust at the reaction of the 1,332 crowd.
'Our players have been under great pressure after the incidents of last Saturday. We had to restrain ourselves and take insults tonight as the fans booed us whenever we touched the ball,' said Siew.
'We did not expect to win as we have had to play two matches in four days. We also had a few key players injured like Tam Siu-wai, left-winger Hugo Gimenez and sweeper Yan Lik-kin.' Kwok sealed the points for Rangers when he headed home a Marko Kraljevic cross in the 29th minute.
Meanwhile, former Argentine international midfielder Ossie Ardiles is adding Japan to his chequered soccer career.
The Argentine yesterday said he would take over as coach of J.League club Shimizu S-Pulse next week.
