LEATHER trader Dah Hwa Holdings is to expand its business in China because of soaring demand there.

Managing director John Lee Sam-yuen said demand for garment leather in China grew strongly last year.

'Our three representative offices in China contributed about 30 per cent turnover last year, indicating the colossal potential of leather trading,' he said.

The company's offices are in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Mr Lee said demand would be further stimulated by the impending tariff reduction on the mainland.

'Import tariff of leather will be slashed by an average 20 per cent, which will stir buying sentiment,' he said.
