FORMER champions Shaheen staked a claim for the men's First Division crown with 5-1 victory over Kowloon Cricket Club A in a top-of-the-table clash at King's Park yesterday.

The result extended Shaheen's winning streak to nine games following a slow start to the season when they lost two of their first three matches - to KCC A and the Hong Kong national side, Tigers.

Shaheen, who beat Tigers 1-0 in their last outing, have avenged the two early season defeats and moved into second position with 30 points, four behind the national squad who are ineligible for the title.

KCC A and defending champions Hong Kong Football Club A are also on 30 points but they have each played 13 games, one more than Shaheen.

Shaheen also boast a superior goal difference.

'We are a fast and young team and the boys have been playing better with every game,' said Shaheen manager Shaukat Khan.
