MORE than 32 organisations in Tsuen Wan district have pledged to protect the environment by taking part in a nine-month Plastic Waste Recycling Campaign which was launched at the Sha Tsui Road Playground recently.
Some 150 plastic waste collection points will be set up in primary and secondary schools, public and private housing estates during the first phase of the campaign (until March).
With the theme 'Let's recycle plastic waste to reduce pollution', the campaign is jointly organised by the Regional Council's Tsuen Wan District Committee and the Riviera Garden of Lutheran Children and Youth Centre.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Regional Council's Tsuen Wan District Committee chairman Chow Ping-Tim, urged the residents to join hands in recycling plastic waste such as plastic bottles.
He said the residents should bring plastic products to the collection points during the campaign period.
Mr Chow added that it was important for the community to take an active part in environmental protection in order to build a better place for all.
