TVB International (TVBI) announced yesterday the signing of a new distribution agreement with Thailand's Universal Cable TV Network (UTV) and the formation of the TVB3 Network Co.

  The agreement grants UTV the exclusive right to distribute the Asian Entertainment Network channel, the Thai language general entertainment channel to be launched by the new TVB3 Network in early 1997, in the greater Bangkok viewing area.

  The new company, which is a joint venture with Bangkok Entertainment Co, will distribute Thai-dubbed Chinese programmes and Thai language programmes produced or re-packaged to television operators around the world.

  TVBI owns 40 per cent of the joint venture while the Bangkok Entertainment Co owns the remaining 60 per cent.
