IT HAS just got to happen sooner or later. That man Wong Tang-ping has a stable full of young horses that have promised much over distances short of what is required to race right up to their full potential. When they move up to their correct trip over the closing months of the campaign, the Ping stable could send winners gushing to the line. It would be no surprise either to see that expected burst in form coincide with the return of Tony Cruz to the Wong fold. Wong's Star Of Marble has been mentioned here before - when staying on well to be third to Speedy Good at Happy Valley over 1,235 metres. Yesterday he was sent down the straight 1,000-metre course and was again noted staying on in the most promising fashion, this time to be third to King Chariot. Star Of Marble was also noted racing greenly for much of the way and will improve significantly both for a move to something like 1,400 metres and the experience. Don't forget Derek Cruz's Super Bingo II. He appeared to find 1,200 metres on the short side in the fourth event won by Phantasy Way and is another who will be all the better over farther.
