Baroness Lydia Dunn made another exit from the local business scene yesterday by stepping down as a director and non-executive deputy chairman of Hongkong Bank. She will retain links with the British-based holding company, remaining as a director and non-executive deputy chairman of HSBC Holdings. Her replacement is Helmut Sohmen, who has served on Hongkong Bank's board since 1984.

Once considered the most powerful woman in Hong Kong, Baroness Dunn announced last June she was quitting the territory to move to London. She resigned from the Executive Council but retains business links through her connection with HSBC and the Swire Group, of which she is an executive director in Britain.

Meanwhile, Sir Joseph Hotung, a non-executive director of Hongkong Bank since 1991, will retire from the board on March 18.
