IT gives me very great pleasure to send the greetings of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA) on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Hongkong Society of Accountants (HKSA). The association has had a long and close relationship with the accountancy profession in Hongkong. This relationship led, some 10 years ago, to the signing of a formal joint examination scheme between our two organisations. The success of this scheme has seen many thousands of young people train as accountants through the HKSA. Over the past 20 years, the HKSA has developed into a significant body on the international stage, both regionally within the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) and further afield. The society's achievements were recognised when it succeeded in being elected to the Council of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) last October. I am sure that the coming years will see the HKSA further expand its influence within the accountancy profession. On behalf of the association's council, I wish the HKSA and its members an enjoyable anniversary year and every success in the future.
