Long wait for tardy buses

Reading Time:1 minute
Why you can trust SCMP

WHILST many bus routes on the south side of Hong Kong Island have been transferred to Citybus in the last few years, a large number of residents in Ma Hang Estate and elsewhere in Chung Hom Kok are still suffering from the inadequate and unreliable service provided by CMB.

The only air-conditioned service, the 262, only operates during the rush hour and is often cancelled.

Residents have to rely on the ancient 66 and 63 buses for the rest of the day. Since these services only run every 20 and 30 minutes respectively, I have called CMB and tried to get timetable information to avoid unnecessary waiting. First of all, I was told that timetables were not available. When I insisted, I was given certain times at which buses leave their terminus. These times are obviously incorrect, as I find myself waiting for a fairly long time at the bus-stop. I then called the respective terminus and was given a completely different timetable by the supervisor.

I certainly will not abandon my car and will have to continue contributing to traffic congestion and pollution until a better public transport service is provided for this area.
