SUN Hung Kai Properties has secured government approval to develop a massive low-rise residential project in Kwu Tung Road, Sheung Shui. The 414,100 square foot development was among the 59 plans approved by the Buildings Department in November. Spanning a site of more than a million sq ft, the project will include 250 two-storey or three-storey residential blocks. The biggest project in gross floor area approved by the Government in November was Paliburg International's 1.71 million sq ft industrial complex in Praya Road, Ap Lei Chau. Paliburg intends to build four 25-storey to 28-storey workshops on the 180,500 sq ft site which it bought at a Government auction in January 1995 for $230 million. The building plans approved by the Buildings Department included 21 residential-related projects, 13 commercial developments, 12 factory and industrial developments and 13 community services developments. Swire Properties and Citic Pacific have been given approval for their joint venture Festival Walk retail development at Tat Chee Avenue in Yau Yat Tsuen. The 10-storey complex will provide a gross floor area of 1.34 million sq ft. Admarch will build eight low-rise apartment blocks with clubhouse at Ha Wong Yi Au in Tai Po with a total floor area of 278,480 sq ft. Sino Land has received approval to build seven 11-storey apartment blocks over two basements for its Classical Gardens phase three development in Ma Wo, Tai Po. Hang Tung Resources will build 20 three-storey residential blocks in Kau To Shan, Sha Tin, on a site acquired for $171 million. The Hong Kong Housing Society has been given approval to develop four 20-storey residential blocks for the 'Sandwich Class' in Chung Hau Street, Ho Man Tin. Cantake Land Investment will develop 46 low-rise residential blocks in Fanling, with a total floor area of 125,626 sq ft. On the south side of Hong Kong Island, Golden Square Property Enterprises will develop 34 three-storey residential blocks, with a total floor area of 104,287 sq ft, in Turtle Cove. Character Holdings will build five four-storey apartment blocks in Chung Hom Kok Road. Henderson Land Development has received approval to build a 23-storey office tower in Tai Yau Street, San Po Kong. Jaffe Development will build a 47-storey commercial tower at 325-337 Lockhart Road and 304-312 Jaffe Road in Wan Chai. Million Wealth Investment will develop a 26-storey commercial tower in Connaught Road West while Roco Investment will build a 31-storey commercial block in King's Road.
