Virgin's Pammy gives whole new meaning to being a bottle blonde
FANS of low-brow surf-sun series Baywatch and statuesque star Pamela Anderson will now have a new reason for salivating.
Virgin has introduced a Pamela-shaped bottle for its cola drink. Launching the new drink in London last night, a company spokesman said the bottle will be known as 'The Pammy'.
Virgin mainman Richard Branson has dreamed up this latest marketing ploy, one of steady stream which have made him into one of Britain's richest people. He reckons 'no red-blooded male will be able to resist taking the top off a Pammy and pressing his lips to its neck'.
A Virgin employee was reported as saying: 'It's a chance for every Baywatch fan to make Pammy fizz - what a dream come true.' Mr Branson, who has appeared in a Baywatch episode, clinched the deal with Pamela when she and rocker hubby Tommy Lee were in London over Christmas, according to Bruce Loudon in London.
Virgin spokesman Jackie McQuillan said last night: 'Mr Branson wanted the bottle to be curvaceous. It was called The Pammy from the word go. We believe it's the most shapely thing to hit the soft drinks industry for years.' Pamela, described by a colleague as appearing to have 'two varnished beach balls concealed in her swim suit', is the perfect shape for a fizzy drink bottle - extra cola.
