A FORMER mental patient was in hospital last night after trying to set fire to herself during a domestic dispute in Tuen Mun.
A security guard, 32, who tried to put out the fire was also injured, but was treated and discharged. Both were taken to Tuen Mun hospital.
Police said the woman, 35, surnamed Shek, had been arguing with her 39-year-old husband.
'She had a dispute with her husband over love affairs. The victim got emotional and very excited and started a fire by pouring paraffin over herself,' the spokesman said.
The incident at Goodrich Gardens, Leung Tak Street, Tai Hing, was initially classified as attempted suicide and then altered to arson, given the deliberate way in which the fire occurred.
The woman suffered burns to her head and lower parts of her body, police said. She was in 'ill condition'.
