Cantonese study

A GROUP of senior expatriate civil servants prepared to serve beyond the handover are learning Cantonese full-time.

Registrar of Companies Gordon Jones is the course leader of the team of nine, which includes four Administrative Service members and four members of the police.

The first part of the course, which ends on March 1, is being conducted at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The team will then move on to a China studies training programme at Zhongshan University in Guangzhou.
