SCHOOLS are invited to nominate teachers to stand for election to the second term of the Council on Professional Conduct in Education. Each school may nominate a regular full-time registered teacher, including school head, to stand for election. Teachers may also run for election as independent candidates if they have the support of 60 full-time teachers teaching in the same type of school. To be eligible for registration, educational organisations must fulfil the following criteria: They must have been registered with the Registry of Trade Unions, Societies Office or Companies Registry, unless they are exempted from registration by the Companies Registry; and At least 80 per cent of their members must be serving as full-time teachers or registered teachers or teachers exempted from registration by the Director of Education. Applications for registration should be sent to the Education Officer (Council on Professional Conduct) at Wu Chung House, Room 1025, 10th floor, 213 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, on or before March 6. Nominations should reach the department not later than noon on March 13. Voting will be conducted on April 24.
