THE Peninsula's swank rooftop restaurant, Felix, re-opens on Friday after a couple of months off the dinner circuit for various alterations. The hotel promises there will be no noticeable differences to the year-old restaurant's Philippe Starck design. The same cannot be said of the chef. The new man in the kitchen is Bryan Nagao, fresh from Hawaii's award-winning, ocean-front restaurant, the Canoe House. Known for his Pacific Rim menus, Nagao's signature dishes include lobster nachos with avocado, coconut macadamia nut-crusted shrimp with Thai cucumber salad, and blanched garlic risotto and spicy, guava-smoked tomato jus. His menu at Felix includes pepper-seared foie gras, pernod-smoked wild salmon, and curried asparagus soup. Reservations on 2366-6251. A taste for art IT'S a feast all right, even if none of the dishes laid out on these tables is edible. Two galleries, The Hanart TZ and LKF The Gallery, are celebrating the Hong Kong International Food Festival this year with a collection of art featuring food. On the menu are works such as Luis Chan's No Fish For Lunch, Wu Shaoxiang's Golden Egg and Pauline Courtney's series of Chef figures. The exhibition runs from March 5 to 18 at LKF The Gallery in Lan Kwai Fong. Kingly curiosity THE question of the moment at the Furama hotel's Cafe Chater coffee shop is: did Henry IV really drink chicken tea? No one seems to know the origins of the Chicken Tea Henry IV ($90), which appears on the list of soup and sandwich lunch specials. The name is a lot more curious than the dish. What you get is a small bowl of clear chicken broth served with ham and cheese on an onion bun. The soup isn't bad at all, but the closest we came to an explanation for its unlikely title was: 'It's just a name.' Paddy's pints BIG on enthusiasm but short on patience, Delaney's isn't waiting for St Patrick's Day on March 17 to begin its party. From March 1, every pint of Guinness ordered at the Irish pub in Wan Chai or Tsim Sha Tsui will be served with a special sticker. Collect 12 stickers and a Guinness T-shirt is yours free. Delaney's begins serving its saint's set lunch menu on March 10. Dishes include smoked salmon and oyster soup, corned beef and cabbage and vegetable stew. The special St Patrick's Day menu ($139) includes potato and watercress soup and roast smoked turkey breast. Party pieces THE new Oscar's in Causeway Bay's World Trade Centre has unveiled a near-perfect plate of party snackettes. The modern version of cocktail sausages, bacon-wrapped cheese and spring rolls, the mid-90s offerings involve mushroom parcels, eggplant spread on French bread and palm-sized cheese melts. In addition to its party favours, the harbour-view restaurant's menu includes a fine pumpkin soup, jumbo sandwiches and some creative vegetable rolls. There's also a $180 Sunday brunch from 11am. Call 2861-1511. Ice with spice BRUSSELS sprouts, pine nuts, avocado and garlic cloves have all been turned into ice cream by an enterprising Venezuelan entrepreneur. Manuel da Silva Oliveira, who has turned out more than 600 different flavours in 14 years, has earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records for his efforts. Other flavours include tuna, pumpkin, shrimp and spinach. His bizarre range, which also includes extravagant caviar-flavoured scoops, has turned his ice-cream parlour into a popular tourist attraction.
