POLICE thwarted an attempt to smuggle two lefthand-drive Mercedes-Benz cars yesterday shortly after they were stolen from a car park in Tseuk Luk Street, San Po Kong. The cars, worth $2.1 million, and a crane were intercepted at an Ap Lei Chau constructionsite at about 4.30 am. Five men operating the crane escaped in a speedboat.
