WAN CHAI Junior Police Call (JPC) member Yung Yeung-ngai has been rewarded for her efforts at last year's Summer Youth Programme. She won a scholarship offered by the Summer Youth Programme Committee after police noticed her talent and determination. 'I joined the Summer Youth Programme in very high spirits,' she said, adding that she was keen to improve her self-confidence and leadership skills. As part of the youth programme, she was involved in a series of activities organised by the JPC and other community groups. These included a 'beat drugs' camp, student fun day, and social service tasks. Police staff were impressed by her enthusiasm and devotion and nominated her for the 1995 Summer Youth Programme scholarship. Yeung-ngai and five other JPCs were among the 43 scholarship recipients. Each was awarded a commendation certificate and an Outward Bound course, to be undertaken in Hong Kong or overseas. 'I know it's a demanding task to go through the 18-day Outward Bound course. But as a JPC leader, I should have the confidence to overcome difficulties,' she said.
