Stars light up Coliseum
MEGA pop idol Jacky Cheung Hok-yau outshone the others by grabbing three awards in this year's Radio Television Hongkong (RTHK) Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Presentation Concert held recently at the Hongkong Coliseum.
The gala followed last week's debut New Artists Award Presentation Concert, another sparkling RTHK event to boost this year's celebration of the concert's 15th anniversary.
The concerts raised a total of $3.2 million for the Social Service Fund of Yan Chai Hospital, the joint organiser for the jamborees.
Megastar Anita Mui Yim-fong and actor Nat Chan Pat-cheung joined RTHK disc jockeys Luke Tsang Chi-wah and Eric Ng Kar-lim to host the concert. Actor Eric Tsang Chi-wai also appeared on stage with a dog of the same name to add some comic elements to the show.
Celebrities presenting the 16 prizes included former singer Deannie Yip Tak-han, Taiwanese singer Ke Shouliang, jockey Tony Cruz, Cantonese opera master Sun Ma See Tsang and his wife, actresses Teresa Mo Shun-kwan and Cheung Mun and legislators Emily LauWai-hing and Tam Yiu-chung.
The climax came not without some nervous pangs: actor Chow Yun-fatt repeatedly failed to announce the correct winner of the Best Record Sales award. But obviously to the rejoice of many, it went to Jacky Cheung for his album True Feelings .
