Tony Millard's Five Up High may not have produced the most impressive trial of the morning but he looks one to watch when he puts it all together after Thursday's rescheduled turf trials.

Five Up High (Karis Teetan) was up near the leaders for most of the trial, staving off the late challenge of My Surplus (Tommy Berry) in the concluding stages.

His winning time was the slowest of the four 1,000m turf trials, stopping the clock at 58.01s - a half second slower than Lovely Delovely in trial three - but he raced greenly and looks like he will make a nice horse once he understands what the caper is all about.

Five Up High raced as My Nephew Eric in South Africa, where the son of Sail From Seattle had one start for a two and three-quarter length win in a 1,400m two-year-old maiden at Kenilworth.

As a half-brother to top miler Soft Falling Rain, there was much hype around the horse before his debut, and many of the South Africans among the visiting pack with Champions Mile winner Variety Club were keen to know of his progress.

While it remains to be seen what level he will reach, he will start off a rating of 66 and there should be a Class Three he can pick off before the end of the season.
