AST Computer this week introduces its new senior vice-president for the Asia-Pacific region, Michael Willcocks.
The announcement coincides with the first visit to the regional Hong Kong headquarters of Ian Diery, recently appointed president and chief executive officer. Mr Diery, the previous No 2 at Apple Computer, joined AST only recently and has recruited one of his former Apple and Wang colleagues in filling the post left by the departure of previous vice-president for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, Bob McFarland, who returned to the United States in January.
An AST statement last week said Mr Willcocks' charter would be to develop the enormous potential within the region, including the markets of China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, Pakistan, India and the Middle East.
AST claims to hold market leadership in China.
