AN anti-triad senior inspector and four colleagues were yesterday summonsed to court by a decoration contractor for alleged wounding and criminal intimidation.
Detective Inspector Wong Yiu-chuen and four officers of the anti-triad squad, Mongkok police station, had been expected to enter pleas to two summonses issued by contractor Leung Wah, 46, at North Kowloon Court. The officers have been transferred.
Wong, senior sergeant Kong Sin-tit, sergeant Kan Siu-ming, and constables Tsui Wai-lun and Law Hou-ming are alleged to have assaulted Mr Leung who had just finished a midnight snack with his wife in Portland Street, Mongkok, on May 15, 1994. Mr Leung was arrested after the incident and charged with claiming to be a triad member and obstructing a police officer.
Mr Leung's wife Man Chui-mei, 48, also faced two assault charges and one of resisting arrest.
Mr Leung's friend Wat Kam-tong took photographs of Mr Leung's injuries shortly after the alleged assault. He was bruised, and needed three stitches on his forehead, the court heard.
Mr Wat had been prepared to testify at Mr Leung's trial on February 19 last year.
