Exco convenor Rosanna Wong Yick-ming said the escalating standoff between China and Taiwan had caused widespread concern among the public.

Exco members wanted to seek the Government's assessment on the situation and its impact.

She said the Executive Council, the Governor's inner cabinet, would have a better grasp of the situation after its discussions with the Government.

It could then draw up contingency measures to deal with problems.
