HANG Seng Bank unveiled its new corporate logo and staff uniforms yesterday.
The 42-year-old logo which featured an ancient coin within a heavy metal wheel denoting solidity is being replaced by a red logo with simpler lines placed against a background of steel grey.
While retaining the old coin, the colour change stands out as the main theme of the new corporate identity.
The red is supposed to appeal to the young, a customer group the bank has endeavoured to tap in the past two years.
Chief executive Alexander Au Siu-kee said: 'We want to show that we retain the good side of our tradition while adopting a completely new yet dynamic red.
'It is the merging of old and new.' He said the old logo created a barrier between the bank and the younger generation.
