Gay spy loses sacking plea

WASHINGTON: The firing of a gay spy on the grounds that he posed a threat to national security was upheld by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, which said the CIA had a legitimate concern about the spy's ''trustworthiness''.

The spy, who was not identified in court, told a CIA security official in January 1982 that he was gay. He was placed on paid leave and told four months later he was being fired.
