New price of peace

Next Digital

Next and Eastweek magazines raise their prices today. Next will increase its price from $12 to $15 and its arch-rival, Eastweek, will rise from $8 to $10. The rises follow a private meeting last week between tycoon publishers Ma Ching-kwan, of Oriental Press Group, and Jimmy Lai Chee-ying, who owns Next and Apple Daily. Mr Lai said the rivals did not discuss the price war at the meeting. Price cuts were first made in December.
