Dan Ropski had options. He could have taken a comfortable job in engineering or business, or he could build an online education start-up in Hong Kong while living in Shenzhen. If he needed to stay overnight in Hong Kong, he would sleep either on friends' couches or at the office.
Live It China was among 30 start-up companies which celebrated another milestone recently (May 3), as they graduated from the Cyberport's two-year incubation programme for young entrepreneurs.
Cyberport's funding helped cover the basic start-up costs and encouraged Ropski and his co-founder to put structures and systems in place to run the company. This, and some entrepreneurial hustle from the two co-founders, helped Live It China secure its Series A funding.
“We kept pushing and didn't give up,” said Ropski, now COO of Live It China. “We got a lot of useful feedback. But we also learned that sometimes you get feedback you have to ignore.”
