The navies of India and Singapore have completed a fourth round of joint manoeuvres in the Bay of Bengal in an effort to enhance ties.
One submarine and a frigate of the Indian Navy and two Victory class corvettes of the Royal Singapore Navy participated in the week-long exercise off the eastern Visakhapatnam coast.
The Indian Navy is trying to increase its influence among countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
It aims to achieve this through training ASEAN naval personnel, servicing and repairing their vessels in Bombay, Cochin and Calcutta, and trying to sell indigenously built corvettes.
India is also holding a third round of naval exercises with the US Navy in the Arabian Sea later this month.
