Nine-man Mansion pulled off a sensational victory by beating Happy Valley 2-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the San Miguel FA Cup at Mongkok Stadium last night.

  In a highly controversial match, tainted by atrocious refereeing decisions, Mansion advanced to meet Instant-Dict in the last eight at Mongkok on Friday.

  Mansion held on to win despite having Chan Wai-tung and Paschal Omeda sent off in the second-half.

  Chan was given his marching order for kicking Happy Valley defender Neil Armour in the 74th minute.

  Valley midfielder Paul Ronald put the ball in the net from the free kick but the strike was disallowed for an infringement.

  Ronald made no mistake the second time, his shot soaring into the back of the net.

  Mansion had earlier taken a 2-0 half-time lead with a 13th minute goal from Cheung Kam-wah whose curling free kick eluded Valley 'keeper Felix Golindano.

  Omeda extended the scoring just before the break when he broke through to score with a low shot after twisting and turning past Armour.

  The Nigerian forward was later sent after being booked for time-wasting.

  Omeda refused to leave the pitch but was eventually persuaded to go by his teammates.

  Valley had chances to equalise with Billy Ferguson coming close in the 76th minute which produced a good save from Mansion 'keeper Lau Tung-ping.

  Left-winger Pang Chi-tong also came close when he hit the bar four minutes later.
