One of the world's most acclaimed choral ensembles, the Russian State Chorus, will give a performance at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on March 31.

The ensemble of 45 had its beginnings on a local radio station in 1936. Soon the chorus developed a very loyal audience in many cities around what was then the Soviet Union.

For more than 50 years, the ensemble has been recognised as one of the world's leading choral groups.

Its repertoire covers the best of many periods, styles and genres, from one-voice motets to the most complicated polyphonic scores, from oratories and cantatas of the West European classics and Russian choral repertoire of the 18th and 19th centuries to modern compositions.

Tickets at $180, $140, $110 and $80, with half-price concessions for senior citizens, the disabled and full-time students, are available at all Urbtix outlets. A 10 per cent discount is offered for purchases of six to 15 tickets, a 20 per cent discount for 16 to 30 tickets and a 30 per cent discount for over 30 tickets.
