I am glad Andy Ho says that Legco's home page is a disappointment. But he probably doesn't have a clue why it is such a disappointment.
It all boils down to the lack of resources. The computer services provided by the Government to individual Legco members is a joke.
Typically, a large company occupying a single high-rise would have their computers connected through a LAN (local area network) which is probably then connected to the Internet by a 'dedicated link'.
The LAN allows computers to share resources. I know of at least two Legco members' offices in the west wing of the Central Government Offices which don't even have a LAN.
The members and their aides are forced to pay for their own Internet accounts via dial-up links. How can our elected representatives be more accessible when they are not even given sufficient resources to reach the public? At the very least, the members in the Central Government Offices should be given a dedicated link to the Internet.
How do you expect them to have a decent home page when they can't even guarantee their connection to the Internet? ANTHONY LEE Broadcast Drive
