If you have any good ideas on how to cut down crime, get involved in a police-organised competition - and help the community.
The 'Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition' is open to secondary and post-secondary students, and working youths between 15 and 21 years.
Speaking at a press conference, Commissioner of Police Eddie Hui Ki-on said the competition was designed to 'encourage Hong Kong's young people to contribute bright ideas to enhance awareness of the serious consequences of indulging in criminal activities and in particular, to reduce youth crime'.
The competition includes a quiz and a slogan contest, as well as essay writing and interviews.
Ten winners will be awarded sponsored tours to Australia and Singapore. Other outstanding participants will receive cash awards and book coupons.
Mr Hui said the police were concerned about the rise in the number of assault, burglary and shoplifting cases involving youths.
