About $11 million has been raised for victims of the hillfire. But more is needed to support the long-term recovery of seriously burned victims, their school said yesterday. The money includes $4 million which has been raised for Fung Yiu King Memorial Secondary School's relief fund. About $1 million has been used to meet the victims families' immediate needs. Principal Hui Wing-ho said some of the rest would be used to support the long-term costs of recovery of the severely burned students. Some would be used to set up scholarships in the names of teacher Wong Sau-mei and Chow Chi-chai, who were killed in the fire. He said fund-raising would continue as the cost of long-term recovery of burned patients would be huge. The $11 million also includes $4 million raised by the Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union in memory of Mr Wong and Mr Chow. The union's appeal for the pupils has raised about $570,000. A further $3 million has been raised from 29 businessmen in the name of the two dead teachers.
