Danish carrier Maersk Line has bagged five awards at the 10th Asian Freight Industry Awards ceremony.
The awards included best global shipping line, best shipping line Transpacific, best shipping line Asia-Europe, best shipping line Intra-Asia and best shipping line Asia-Middle East.
The Port of Rotterdam won the award for the best seaport in Europe for the 10th consecutive year. Herman Hanekamp, head of environment and safety of Rotterdam municipal port management, said the port would meet annual growth of 7 to 8 per cent by developing facilities at Maasvlakte. Eight container terminals would be ready by 2000.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol won the title of best airport in Europe for the third consecutive year.
Gert-Jan Hermelink, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol's cargo marketing manager, said the award reflected the airport's bid to maintain the highest standards of service.
Freight forwarder Kuehne & Nagel took top awards in the sea freight and intermodal categories for the firm's outstanding freight forwarding services in the region.
