Cruz's title tilt right back on track

Robin Parke

TONY Cruz kick-started his title hopes again yesterday with a Sha Tin double and declared he would not be riding for brother Derek again next season.

And he quickly refuted stories that he would be linking up officially on retainer next season with any local stable.

''I am delighted with the double, it could not have come at a better time but I am already looking ahead.

''I don't intend to seek a retainer with any stable next season but I expect to be riding for Wong Tang-ping, Peter Ng Bik-kuen and other trainers like Chris Cheung.

''I will not be riding for my brother and you can take that as a definite,'' said Cruz.

And Cruz stressed that his future lies in Hongkong.

''This is my home and I am happy here. I intend to be riding here next season and hopefully for some time after that.

''I will almost certainly ride in France in the summer but that is as far as it will go,'' he said.
