Of the 77 secondary schools that wished to take up the NIKE Basketball Skill Challenge '96, only 27 could be accommodated, due to enrolment limitations.
The programme, which began on March 26 and continues till May 14, and is the first of its kind in Hong Kong, has had a tremendous response from schools.
Some schools even dismiss class early so that all the students can join in the 'school demonstration' - stage one of the programme.
And some schools have even invited other schools in the vicinity to join their demonstration sessions, at which A-I basketball league players show the students basics such as shooting, dribbling, passing and lay-up shots.
All participants will meet on May 25 at the Hong Kong Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai to compete in the NIKE Basketball Skill Challenge '96 Championship.
