THOSE looking for corporate Hong Kong on the Internet will need to know where to find the Web sites. They should also know what to expect.
The most recent information on Hongkong Telecom's Web page is from December 1. The Fast Facts section is messy, and does not fit properly on the monitor screen.
Web users can access Hongkong Telecom's annual report and there is plenty of opportunity to find out about the services the company offers. There is no interactivity.

Enquiries to Hongkong Telecom about the universal resource locator (URL), or address, for the Web page dumbfounded one spokesman, who did not know what the Internet or World-Wide Web were. [http://www.hkt.net.com].
Cathay Pacific has a more ambitious page set up, maintained by Linkage Hong Kong, which also established and maintains sites for locally listed Dharmala Holdings and International Bank of Asia.

Cathay's site contains promotions including 'cyber tours' of Cathay destinations (brief essays written in travel magazine language), but customers also can tot up their frequent-flier miles, work out if they qualify for the airline's Marco Polo Club, and access a route planner that gives details of flights to and from destinations. The page is in English and Chinese, perhaps the only local page to be bilingual. [http://www.cathaypacific-air.com].
