Gianni Versace highlights the shirt-waister as the starting point and common denominator for some items in his new ready-to-wear collection.

'The jackets are fitted and often short, cropped to about waist length or just over the hips and held with a thin belt,' general manager Belinda Kwan said.

Skirts are either straight or A-line and all are just above the knee and sometimes slit from the thigh down. Besides Versace's beloved black, the colour spectrum embraces orange, lime and yellow.
