THE John Moore-trained Kwacha went firmly into the notebook when staying on promisingly behind Gallant Dragon in the eighth event at Sha Tin yesterday.

Moore slipped seven behind his old sparring partner Patrick Biancone in their annual duel for training honours when the Frenchman yesterday banged home a very timely couple of winners.

This will make for an added urgency to the Moore operation, where there is plenty of end-of-season momentum, and Kwacha's run suggested here is one winner for the defending champion who is bidding to make it an incredible five titles in six seasons.

Kwacha is more commonly known as a dirt performer but he also handles the sandmesh and should be fully fit after yesterday's effort when he lost a fair bit of ground when dropping back to last in scrimmaging shortly after the start.

From the home corner he was noted making good ground and hit the line hard, despite not having the clearest of runs in the straight, either.

Alex Wong Yu-on has a tremendous collection of griffins. His Majestic Conqueror flew home from miles back in the second event and will have derived considerable benefit from the experience.
