Japanese shipping line Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has signed a deal with freight forwarder and depot operator Ideal Pacific Holdings to use its depot facilities in Baoshan. The agreement between Ideal Pacific's joint-venture firm Shanghai United Asia Container Services Co (Suacs) and NYK came into effect from March 1. Ideal Pacific vice-chairman Helen Fu Wai-hung said: 'The agreement is mutually beneficial for both companies.' Suacs offered NYK professional facilities and modern information technology and the line provided Ideal Pacific technical know-how to handle refrigerated containers, she said. NYK's Japanese technicians would train Suacs staff on pre-cooling systems and pre-trip inspection. Suacs, which started operations in October last year, has an 830,000 sq ft depot. It can store 7,150 empty containers and 2,100 loaded containers. Suacs has an 87,200 sq ft warehouse and container freight station. Ms Fu said the group was talking to international shipping firms and high quality product manufacturers and distributors to provide professional logistics services.
