Save the planet, plant a tree

Over 200 people got down on their hands and knees in the Tai Po Wu Kau Tang Country Park to protect the environment recently.

The event was designed to highlight the importance of environmental protection and raise awareness among youngsters.

Organisers hope that the event will encourage other members of the public to plant trees and thus ensure a greener planet for future generations.

The '903 id Club Tree-planting Day for Aries', organised by Ultimate 903 of Commercial Radio 2, was part of Friends of the Earth's 'Trees for year 2000 and Beyond' programme.

Led by id Club chairman Madam Nancy and DJ Chan Ka-fai, more than 200 Aries members of the club planted saplings in the country park.

Former beauty queen and actress Cherry Chung Chor-hung, Friends of the Earth director Ng Fong Siu-mei and pop stars Linda Wong, Julian Cheung, Ray Chan and Choi On-kiu were other eager participants.
