A 13-year-old girl who liked to dream of romance wept yesterday as she told a jury a 66-year-old watchman had raped her twice.
She had fantasies about having a nice boyfriend and escaping from her family situation where her parents argued about not having enough money and scolded her for being lazy.
She told the High Court she enjoyed reading romantic novels in which boys and girls gave each other presents, went for meals, visited the cinema and kissed.
But the books did not go so far as to involve sexual relations, she said.
The court heard she and other children would visit watchman Lee Wing-shing in his office to watch television.
On one occasion, in January last year, Lee allegedly pounced on her, pinning her to a mattress on the floor.
