A taxi driver's throat was slashed from ear to ear by robbers who tied him up and left him to die on a deserted hillside, the High Court heard yesterday.
Cheung Chi-choi, 41, married with three young children, was repeatedly slashed with a fruit knife which sliced into his spinal cord, a judge was told.
Before being killed, Cheung was beaten and forced to hand over the pin numbers for his bank cards.
After failing to dispose of the taxi by pushing it down a hill and attempting to burn it, the two robbers went home to change out of their bloodstained clothes.
They used the bank cards to milk the driver's account of $10,000 and went to a karaoke bar to 'play' and drink wine.
Choi Chun-wo, 22, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and two charges of robbery. His plea of not guilty to murder was accepted by the Crown.
