The contractor making uniforms for police and customs officers is not measuring up, unions say. Officers have complained new uniforms were the wrong size, chairman of Hong Kong Customs Union Leung Yek-chuen said.

'Had the clothes been a personal order, they would have been sent back,' said Mr Leung.

He said staff generally liked the work of previous tailor, Luk Yee Lo, who had the contract for more than 10 years.

New manufacturer Great Kingdom Uniform Manufacturing said a few complaints was not serious, given the number of uniforms made. The controller of Government Supplies Department, Leung Kam-hung, said they found the maker's performance satisfactory.
